about

ABUSE YOUR DELUSION II

Rather than the overblown meandering nature of part one, Abuse Your Delusion II is more serious and ambitious, but it's also considerably more pretentious. Indeed it’s heavy on grandiose epics, but in an attempt at balance the record is loaded with an extraordinary amount of filler. Graffiti People may be entertaining, ridiculous and bizarre but this pair of Abuse Your Delusion albums probably capture societal instability via media misinterpretation as effectively as any album in recent memory. Having said that, there are numerous strengths to Abuse Your Delusion II; a couple of songs have a nervy energy, and for all their pretensions, the overblown epics are effective, though strangely enough, they reveal notorious aspirations. The short story is that the pompous production and poor pacing make the album tiring for anyone who isn't a dedicated listener. - Spunky Balboa (AltMusic)
